New Appointment System
From 24.2.2015 we are changing the way we book doctor appointments. To make it easier and to avoid you coming in when not needed you will have the opportunity to speak with a GP on the day you wanted an appointment. The staff will take brief details and log a telephone consultation. The doctor will call you back within 1-2 hours and arrange a test, prescription, advice or indeed an appointment for you if needed.
Please try this system out and tell us what you think. We want to increase your access to us but not waste time coming in if a phone consultation will suffice.
When you need to see a Doctor please telephone the practice or come in to reception during opening hours to make a telephone appointment. You can also book appointmens on line through our website for the nurse or for blood tests. Please ask us for access information. Appointments are released every day for the following day to ensure there is plenty of choice including of your preferred doctor. On the day appointments are also available. Please ask reception for more details.
If you feel your need is especially urgent and all the on the day phone appointments are booked please alert the receptionist who will advise you and liaise with the doctor/nurse.
Special appointments like cryotherapy and antenatal and postnatal are offered on some days and again reception will help you.
All appointments with the nurses can be pre booked. Remember they see patients for immunisations, smears, dressings, health promotion, smoking cessation, ear syringing.
Health care Assistants can see patients for Vitamin B12 injections, taking blood, health checks, foot checks, ecg recording.
If you are unable to attend an appointment, please cancel it as soon as possible so that the appointment may be offered to other patients. Our policy for dealing with patients that Do Not Attend (DNA) appointments is to discuss with that patient the reasons for repeated DNAs (may result in being asked to leave the practice list).
Patients aged between 16-74 not seen in the last 3 years are invited to see the Practice Nurse for a “health check” appointment and she will refer you to the doctor as appropriate. Patients aged 75 and over are invited to see us at least annually for a routine review.
