Ante & Post Natal Checks

Dr Upma provides antenatal appointments and also provides Postnatal care by appointment. A postnatal examination if offered at 6-8 weeks with baby check to all new mothers.

Dr Ajit Shah also does baby checks.

Asthma Care

All patients with Asthma are offered an annual review with the Practice Nurse or Doctor. Please bring with you your inhalers.

We offer repeat prescriptions of inhalers but will want to review your condition, inhaler technique etc from time to time

Cervical Smears

This is an important test to look for early changes on the cervix (neck of the womb) that may need treatment before they proceed to more serious inflammation and / or possibly cancer of the cervix. It is really the only test available that can predict and treat a problem before cancer develops.

Women who are sexually active or have ever been in the past and are aged between 24-65 years are routinely called up for a cervical smear test every 3-5 years.

We have women doctors and nurses at the practice who are happy to perform the test for you. It must be done whilst you are free from bleeding if you are still having regular periods. The procedure takes about 5-10 minutes and is usually painless. We are now using the new method of smear preparation and detection called Liquid Based Cytology (LBC) which has the advantage of reducing rates of inadequate smears thus reducing your anxiety and the results are more reliable and returned more quickly.

If you are happy to book a smear test or wish to discuss any aspect of the procedure first, please telephone the surgery on 0208 204 0777 during surgery hours, so that we can arrange a convenient date and time for you.

Child Development Checks

The practice provides child development checks, immunisation and onward referral to Health Visitors as required. A newborn baby is offered a 6-8 week development check and thereafter enrolled onto the national immunisation programme offered at the practice. Please contact reception.

Child Immunisation

The practice supports the UK Childhood Immunisation Programme. We have Practice Nurse Indu offering appointments at parent friendly times for childhood vaccinations including Saturday mornings. Please see her to discuss any queries.
